Hello and a very warm welcome to Gig Bag HQ.  Whether a professional, aspiring or new musician I hope you’ll find information here that will help steer you in your choice of gig bag for your chosen instrument.  Here at Gig Bag HQ we focus on Guitar, Bass and Keyboard bags and anticipating adding more genre of bag in the coming months.

I myself am a former professional touring musician with more than 25 years gigging experience around the UK, Middle and Far East. As such I quickly came to appreciate the value of reliable protection for my instruments as I travelled around.  As an earning musician you’re future lies in your hands of course but a close second comes your instrument and the protection necessary to ensure it’s in top order when you hit the stage – wherever that may be.

As a result I’ve set up this site to pass on my own thoughts – and they are only my own thoughts – on the marketplace out there for gig bags and some of the features to look for when setting yourself up to Gig Bagtransport your instrument. So, please do appreciate that I don’t work for any of the company’s mentioned here nor do I own every product covered….though, man, I wish I did in some cases!. Phew!.  So, come on in, browse around and see what you think. We both know, of course, that the right bag isn’t gonna make you and ace in itself – that’s in your own hands. Making the right choices in gear though can take one more worry off your mind and that’s no bad thing when you need to concentrate on the music and being in the zone.

Imagine travelling half-way across the UK or US arriving, getting to the gig and finding you’re prized keyboard hasn’t made it. A  nice gouge in my favourite keyboard’s low G was my introduction to the pleasures of an unprotected instrument.  On stage that night I twitched every time my finger travelled over that awesome gouge.  So you can take it that my mind wasn’t exclusively commited to what I was doing and it showed in my playing. That was the first and last time it happened for me…from then on I did what it took to make sure everything (Guitars, Bass, Keyboards) travelled and stayed in top working order with a good gig bag. 25 years later I still don’t regret the expense of  that commitment.

Good luck in your musical endeavours and, to steal a phrase from a certain ‘accessory’ – stay protected!.
